Janelle In Real Life: What are "Transition Pieces" and Why Do I Need Them?

What are "Transition Pieces" and Why Do I Need Them?

Someone asked me the other day what in the world was so cool about "transition pieces" and why bloggers were always talking about them. Why do you need something that transitions from one season to another, can't you just have summer clothes for summer & winter clothes for winter?
I do think the phrase is overused, and not every single piece of your wardrobe needs to be a "transition piece." But they're actually a really great tool for anyone who's trying to save a buck.

Basically, anytime you have something that can we worn during multiple seasons or "transition," you get more wear out of it! AKA more bang for your buck. This outfit is one of my favorite transition outfits because all you have to do is swap out a few pieces to go from winter to summer!
With the cardigan & jeans, this look is perfect for lower temps. But ditch the cardi & throw on some denim shorts instead and you're ready for summer! These flats are the BEST because I literally wear them year round. They function as a bootie/flat hybrid and are technically a winter shoe, but I wear them all the time in spring & summer with dresses too!
So next time you're out shopping, think about the items you're trying on & wether they'll work year round for you. Those transition pieces can be your best friend!
